led to a rush of prospectors, who are now busily engaged in searching in all parts of the Colony. Sir C. P. Chater controls the major part of the operations, on which he em- ploys a large number of men at very considerable expense. He has to date recovered a few tons of wolfram, and he has
found traces, which he is assiduously following up, of a
mmber of other metals.

In view of what has been and is being
done by private enterprise, it would seem to be unnecessary to take further steps at the public expense.
